Magnetotelluric data from west-east profile across the Chacopampeana plain at 27 ºS in Argentina were used to characterize the crust and upper mantle in this region and define the structure of Chacoparanense sedimentary basin. Through dimensional analysis of the data, it was demonstrated that regional-scale electrical structure is mainly two-dimensional with a strike direction oriented parallel to the surface geological strike. Models generated using a bandwidth from 5 to 5000 seconds show significant lateral variations in the lithosphere. Based on both, the geotectonic context and the magnetotelluric results, the sharp lateral discontinuity observed in the resistivity model is conjectured to represent the boundary between the Río de la Plata craton and the Pampean terrane
