Morphologies developed in poly(e-caprolactone) (PCL) and poly(styrene) (PS) blends, and PCL-b-PS copolymers are studied. The effect of the amorphous component (PS) on the crystallization behavior of the semicrystalline component (PCL) was analyzed taking into account the weight-average molecular weight (Mw) and the weight ratio of PS, in the blend (20/80) based on previous thermal treatment at different temperatures. The crystallization behavior was investigated by differential scanning calorimetry (DSC), whereas the morphological characteristics of the materials were analyzed by real time small-angle X-ray scattering (SAXS). From these results, the distance between the centers of adjacent cylinders corresponding to the lamellar and hexagonal structures, were obtained. The dependence of these parameters on the crystallization temperature and the composition of PCL in the blends and in the copolymers are discussed taking into account the influence of the amorphous component.
