Resumen:
The feasibility for intensifying heterogeneous Fenton-type (HFT) catalysts is explored through the use of tailored supports to provide enhanced dispersion and utilization of active sites. Synthesis of Prussian Blue (PB) NPs, dispersed on highly structured TiO2 (rutile) scaffolds, is presented, along with their characterization and evaluation in HFT oxidation processes (in the dark). A novel Fenton-type catalyst was synthesized using a cost-effective and versatile cryogenic technique. Promising preliminary results were obtained in terms of activity and stability. Further studies are being accomplished in order to systematically assess the effect of tuning PB NPs size and TiO2 surface coverage on the HFT oxidation of Orange G and p-nitrophenol as model contaminants.
