Resumen:
Highly reactive SnO2-doped powders with specific surface areas above 30m2/s and mean particles size of 20nm were obtained through the polymeric precursor method with tin oxalate (SnC2O4) as tin oxide precursor. The influence of Co and Fe on the microstructure and electrical properties of compacted powders sintered at 1300ºC was studied. The morphology of sintered powders and the microstructure of highly dense samples were characterized with XRD and TEM. The electrical behavior of the samples was studied on the basis of current density-electric field curves. The presence of iron increased the electrical beakdown field and enhanced the nonlinear coefficient. Furthermore, the addition of a 0.2% mol of Fe to the basic system 98.95% SnO2+1.0%CoO+0.05%Nb2O5 reduced the sintering temperature of the material as observed by dilatometry.
