Resumen:
Energy-efficient smart windows are needed to reducethe unwanted heat loss/gain produced by solarradiation through windows.1 Thermochromic films canvary their optical properties with the temperature.Vanadium Dioxide (VO2) undergoes a reversible metalinsulatortransition (MIT) at a critical temperature (Tc)of 68°C. Below Tc, VO2 is a monoclinic (M) crystallinestructure, which is insulating and transparent toinfrared light, but above Tc, it becomes a tetragonalcrystalline structure that is metallic and reflective toinfrared light. These unique properties make VO2 apromising material for its use in thermochromic filmsfor smart windows.2 Furthermore, photothermalagents, such as graphene oxide (GO) and anisotropicgold nanostructures can efficiently convert light intoheat. With the aim to increase energy efficiency inbuildings, the objective of the present work is todevelop photo-thermochromic films based on VO2 andGO and / or gold anisotropic nanostructures, for theirapplication in the design and construction of smartwindows. The phase transition of VO2 (thermochromiceffect), could be activated by the change intemperature induced by solar radiation onto the GOand / or the anisotropic gold nanostructures(photothermal effect), allowing the modulation of heatand natural light entering for specific weatherconditions.
