Resumen:
The ability to control the dispersion of nanostructures in polymers is a powerful tool for the design of materials with unique and sophisticated properties finding applications in areas as diverse as energy, biomedicine, communications and building. Embedding nanoscale particles in polymers offers many opportunities of producing multifunctional polymer composites with enhanced mechanical, electrical, optical, thermal, or magnetic properties. In particular, there has been intense interest on carbon nanotubes CNTs and graphene/graphite nano-platelets (GNPs) as modifiers of polymer matrices with functional applications. Strong interactions between these carbon nanomaterials and the host polymer is the key for properties improvement. This is typically attained by functionalization and/or in-situ polymerization.
