Food and Petroleum, is a descriptive cross-sectionalstudy that proposes to analyze the food-nutritional situation of workerswith uprooting of the oil industry in the area of Vaca Muerta, Neuquén,Argentina, years 2016/2017. Vaca Muerta is a geological formation ofthe Neuquén hydrocarbon basin. Its exploitation represents one of themain activities in the economy of the area. For its primary operation requiresa modality of work with rotating shifts during the 24 hours of theday and permanence in the work place, under diagrams that alternatework and rest cycles. The initial salary of the oil worker exceeds almostthree times that of a teacher or a commercial employee of the region(year 2014). The uprooting and the greater economic availability wouldgenerate changes of feeding behaviors, causing an increase ofoverweight and obesity.Aquantitative-qualitative investigation will be carried out on the foodsituation of the workers analyzing the food from the consumptions madeduring the labor and rest process, the food contextualization of the territorywhere the labor process is performed and the representations andmeanings that food has for workers.The methodology involves a methodological triangulation, producingreflections and explanations of its multiple food and nutritional dimensions.Food-nutritional interpretations and analysis of the studied populationare expected to be available for possible intervention recommendations.General objectives:? Analyze the food and nutritional situation of oil workers with uprootingin the Vaca Muerta area, Neuquén, Argentina.? Analyze the food consumption characteristics of urban households inthe province of Neuquén.Target population: male adult population linked to the extraction ofgas and oil in the Vaca Muerta area of the province of Neuquén thatworks with uprooting and permanence, with more than 1 year of activityin the sector.
