Resumen:
From the continent to the Antarctic convergence zone, there is a predominance of perciform fishes of the suborder Notothenioidei. Studies of their reproductive biology are scarce and without consensus on the reproductive season or spawning. The aim of this study was to obtain a basic knowledge on the reproductive biology of two Antarctic notothenioid fish species captured during summer scientific campaigns, through histological analysis, morphometric indexes, sex hormones and detection of plasma vitellogenin as a useful biomarker for early detection of pollution that would alter the Antarctic ecosystem and use these fish species as sentinels to prove endocrine disruption.
