Resumen:
The early juvenile life period of C. quadricarinatus is characterized as a non feeding phase, once they remain attached to the female up to the third post-embryonic stages. The brood care by females may prevent these tiny juveniles from predation; and the non-feeding behavior probably facilitates this care until they could to take a risk searching for food. Thus is fundamental to know if they have any mouth morphological difficulty; and when will the best stage to take them off the mother for successful raisings. In this sense, we analyzed here the first three juvenile stages of C. quadricarinatus with emphasis on their mouth morphology. Juvenile I present mandible rudimentary; maxillule and maxilla with some teeth (t), serrate setae (se) and plumose setae (pl); first maxilliped smooth with pl and cuspidate setae (cp); second maxilliped is rudimentary with cp; third maxilliped rudimentary present some t and simple setae (ss); pereiopods 1, 2 and 3 are chelated with conspicuous ornamentations; pereiopods 4 and 5 they have no claws; abdomen without setae on pleopods; and uropods absent. Juvenile II present mandible with molar and incisive process differentiated; maxillule similar to juvenile I; maxilla with more t, pl and ss than juvenile I; first maxilliped similar to the previous stage; second maxilliped present ss; third maxilliped with t, se and ss; pereiopods 1, 2, 3, 4 and 5 similar to juvenile I but with more setae; abdomen with biramous pleopods; and uropods absent.Juvenile III present well developed mandible; maxillule, maxilla, first maxilliped, second maxilliped, third maxilliped and all pereiopods  are similar to juvenile II, but  more setose; abdomen with birramous and setose pleopods; and uropods present. Considering all the mouth parts are well developed at the third stage, including with several setae of different types, this should be the preferred to take the juveniles off females for raisings.
