Resumen:
This article presents a diachronic analysis of skateboarders athletic, associative andpolitical engagement in their sport. The data was drawn from association records, thepersonal archives of skateboarders, semi-directive interviews and press articles. Theanalysis focused on the transformations in the local context and revealed threegenerations of practitioners. The succession of generations reflects the changes inthe local context that had an impact on skateboarding styles, the conditions ofpractice, sociability, and relationships with municipal officials. We established threestages: pioneering, institutionalization, and hardship, which ultimately provide insightinto the process of legitimizing skateboarding at the local level.
