Resumen:
Processing tomato crop requires an intensive use of resources and investment, like the implementation of pressurized irrigation technologies that implies several cultivation cycles in the same parcel. In recent years, in areas without land rotation has been an increase of pests and diseases incidence and a reduction of soil quality due to salinity and compaction. Coping with this problem, grafting can be a promising technology for alternative crop management in affected areas of Mendoza, the most important processing tomato producer province in Argentina. Although the use of rootstocks has increased the production of tomatoes for fresh consumption at the national level, it has barely been used in the industrial tomato production due to high costs of seeds and labor.
