Resumen:
Uno de los aspectos llamativos de la estepa patagónica y los sistemas montañosos aledaños es la gran riqueza específi ca de algunos de los géneros distribuidos en el área. Este hecho plantea preguntas tales como, por qué determinadas áreas poseen tal riqueza de taxones. Para poder establecer los factores históricos y geográfi cos que han infl uido en esta diversidad se analizan los patrones de especiación posibles de dos géneros de carábidos, Baripus y Cnemalobus.
One of the attractive aspects of the patagonian steppe and the bordering mountain systems is the high number of species diversity within some genera occurring in this area. This fact outlines questions as why do certain areas possess such taxa richness. To be able to establish the historical and geographical factors that have infl uenced this diversity, the possible patterns of speciation of two carabid genera, Baripus and Cnemalobus, are analyzed.
