Resumen:
A new species of the South American hybosorid genus Metachaetodus is described, M. carolineae Ocampo sp. nov. A key and diagnostic characters for all known species of the genus are presented. A map with the known distribution for the species is provided. The species M. discus De Borre is cited for Brazil for the first time.
