Resumen:
Bergiantina, a new Agaristinae genus from South America, is described. As presently defined, the genus includes three species that were previously assigned to the genus Aucula Walker: A. hilzingeri (Berg), A. magnifica (Schaus), and A. schausi Jörgensen. This new genus can be distinguished from other Agaristinae by its distinctive forewing pattern with white patches or stripes associated to the postmedial line. Other interesting morphological features of diagnostic value include male genitalia with moderately asymmetric valves, aedeagus with an apical sclerotized horn-like dorsal projection, and female genitalia with ductus bursae unsclerotized, thin, and very long, 3x as long as anterior apophysis. A key to species is provided, and adults and male and female genitalia are described and illustrated. One new synonymy is established and two lectotypes are designated.
