Resumen:
Geoffroea subtropicalis is proposed as a new species with distribution only in the Chaco phytogeographic region, whereas G. decorticans belongs to the Monte region. In relation to its Chacoan distribution, G. subtropicalis shows: taller trees, non-gemmiferous roots, persistent cortex, bigger fruits.
