Resumen:
The main concern of this paper is to analyse how climate change is affecting slope instability in Central Andes (32º S). The focus is to elucidate which main mechanisms are increasing landslide activity in this mountain environment involving the highest peak of America. Climate change may promote landslides inmany ways intensifying precipitations, shifting temperatures, increasing adverse effect of ENSO phenomenon among others. Unknown this fact coupled with poorly planned developments and population growth can drastically increase landslide‐associated casualties, especially in Andean communities, where pressure on land resources exists.
