Economic policy and social transformation in Argentina, 1975 2002

The purpose of this work is to provide an outlook of an Argentinian Social and Economic History period which, according to our view, constitutes a relevant example illustrating the social transformations ultimately resulting in the current physiognomy of the country, up to the present day. The first section develops an account of the major Economic Policy dispositions for the whole period, which in turn is divided in four sub-periods: 1975, 1976-1983, 1991 and 1991-2002. The second section is devoted to present, describe, and analyse the evolution of Argentinian social structure as expressed in several indicators such as: inflation, functional income distribution, social stratification, sectoral GDP distribution, poverty and unemployment levels; by this token, we hope to provide an account of the social transformations experienced by Argentina, within the context of the Economic Policy dispositions explained in the previous section. Finally, the last section or this work draws some conclusions.
