Resumen:
Background Metaflammation is considered a common mechanism in non-communicable diseases onset. The adhesion of an argentinean population to proinflammatory dietary patterns (DP) and inflammation biomarkers was studied.Materials and methods Two clusters of Córdoba counties were selected according to environmental-cultural indicators. Adult?s general population, people from agricultural zone (AZ) and scholars were randomly sampled (n=493; 416; 161). Food´s inflammatory potential was scored according to fiber, polyphenols and fatty acids content, glycemic load and antioxidant capacity. Consumption was classified into 41 food-groups to identify DP using Factor Analysis. Adherence to DP (low-medium-high), was compared between the three groups studied using binomial models. In a selected subgroup (n=30) biomarkers (C-reactive protein-usCRP-, cytokines and eicosanoids) were assessed. Results Four patterns were identified: Argentine Proinflammatory-APP- (processed meats, hard cheese, refined cereals, pastry, oils -not olive); Fast foods, Mediterranean like, and Prudent pattern. The inhabitants of AZ showed lower adherence to APP compared to general population (p
