Resumen:
In Latin American countries, the epidemiological and demographic transition of recent decades has led to an increase in Non-Communicable Diseases (NCDs), mainly cardiovascular disease, diabetes, cancer, chronic respiratory disease and injuries due to external causes. Most NCDs are the result of four particular behaviors: tobacco use, physical inactivity, unhealthy diet, and harmful use of alcoholThe objective of this paper is to compare the mortality attributable to some risk factors (tobacco use, harmful use of alcohol and weight excess) in selected Latin American countries (Argentina, Chile, Colombia, Brazil, and México) between 2010 and 2013.For achieve this objective, we will compare the differences in mortality attributable to major risk factors for NCDs, estimating deaths attributable to overweight and obesity, tobacco and harmful alcohol consumption; through secondary data and then contrasting Years of Life Expectancy Lost (YLEL) from these causes, in Argentina, Chile, Brazil, and México. The article seeks to provide new evidence on the burden of NDCs mortality due to tobacco use, harmful use of alcohol, and weight excess in five selected countries of Latin America. Previous studies of the research team realize the importance of the study of NCD mortality and some risks factors.
