Resumen:
Measuring religion has always been challenging. The problem is more serious in Latin America, where many countries don?t have reliable longitudinal data on religious membership. Argentina, the particular case we discuss here, only asked for religious affiliation data in the national census three times: 1898, 1947, and 1960. Though there are some religious surveys, these started only in the 1980s. In order to build a reliable longitudinal dataset, we counted the registers of baptism performed in the city of Cordoba from 1910 to 2014. To analyze and contextualize the data, we used the National Censuses and data from the government of the state and Cordoba?s city hall. The comparisson between baptism register and growth rate of population suggest a constant decline in the percent of bapstim among children from Cordoba since 1980's.
