Resumen:
In this work, our aim is to interpret the current evolution of social policy in China since the 90s up to the present days. This is done by developing a quick review of two different periods: the first one covers a stage somehow closed in 2012, when Xi Jinping assumed as General Secretary of the Chinese Communist Party. Between 1993 and 2012, we joined together two leadership terms, the Jiang Zemin (1993-2002) and Hu Jintao Administrations (2002-2012). However the differences existing between the orientations of the two leaderships, in the whole period social policy was mainly a State response to the social conflict originated in the 1993-1997 State sector restructuring. This changed in the period open in 2012, for there the leadership deviced a comprehensive approach to Economic Reform, covering not only social policy, but Economic Policy, political, ideological and ethical devices.
