Resumen:
The construction of the barbarian in the classic world. Differences between Greece and Rome Abstact The word Barbarian recorded a long history that goes back to the earliest written documents. Forming antinomies, also it registers a long itinerary, so the original opposition "Hellene - Barbarian" of the Greek world that crystallizes in the 5th century B.C., was replaced with to run of the centuries by the opposition "Romans - barbarians" from the 3rd. century A.D., and of there went to contribute to the emergence of new antinomies, which common is the opposition "civilized - Barbarian". With the invention of the Greeks there begins for the West a way to inventing and to inventorying the other, hence it is important for us a review of the origin and development of the word  Barbarian that we use and find  in all the forms of speech.
