Humanitarianism and migratory control: refuge, medical care, and labor migration

This article reviews the relationship between humanitarianismand migratory control in international migration policies in Argentina. Weanalyze the processes of ambivalent categorization of migrant subjects asvictims and/or threats, through three humanitarian categories that appearin the regulation of international migrations: refugees, migrants undergoingmedical treatment, and labor migrants. The methodology employed isqualitative and analyzes: statements of international organizations; nationalregulatory frameworks related to migration, refuge, and the transplantationof organs and tissues; institutional discourses; laws; official reports; andpublic commentaries by government officials.
