Resumen:
Different types of stabilizers have been used with the objective toneutralize the swelling properties of a soil. Lime, cement, asphaltic mix and otheradditives have been effective although nowadays it´s important to use materials thatare ecofriendly. Lignins, lignosulfonates and their effectivity as stabilizer were theobjective of the investigation. A specific kind of lignin was used to evaluate theefficiency on the stabilization. The lignin was mixed in different percentages anddifferent contact times between the soils and the additive were considered. Swellingpressure, potential of free swelling and the stability of the mix were some of theparameters that were determined on specific swelling clay. This swelling clay wasselected as consequence of its extreme properties. The contact time and thepercentage of the additive were the variables to determine during the investigation.
