Landslides can cause major economic damage and a large number of casualties asitispossibletoseefrompasteventsoccurredallovertheworld.Beingabletopredictthesekindofhazardswouldthensupposetheachievementofgreatbenefits.Hereamodelthatcombinesadepthintegrateddescriptionofthesoil-porefluidmixturetogetherwithasetof1Dmodelsdealingwithporepressureevolutionwithinthesoilmassispresented.ThemathematicalmodelisbasedontheBiot-Zienkiewiczequations,fromwhereadepthaveragedmodelisderived.Concerningthematerialbehaviour,theapproachusedistheonesuggestedbythePerzynaviscoplasticity,whichhasbeenextensivelyusedinthepasttomodelsolidbehaviourpriortofailure.Inthisframework,asimpleshearrheologicalmodelisderived,providingthebasalfrictionneededindepthintegratedmodels.TheSmoothedParticleHydrodynamics(SPH)hasbeenthenumericaltechniquechosentospatiallydiscretisedthedepthintegratedequationsofthemathematicalmodel.ThepurposeofthisworkistoapplytheSPHdepthintegratednumericalmodel,togetherwiththesub-modelthatpredictstheevolutionoftheporewaterpressureinsidethelandslide,tosimulatethepropagationphaseoftheAberfanflowslideoccurredin1966.151
