Resumen:
There is a wide range of interference experiments that modulate the phase of an optical signal. This phase can be modulated in space and/or time, leading to dierent types of interferograms. Accordingly, phase demodulation can be performed by dierent techniques. Basically, some of them require the introduction of a carrier (in space or time), and some others require the introduction of phase steps (also in space or time). In a previous communication, we used spatial carrier interferograms obtained with uniaxial crystals to recover the phase modulation introduced by a rotating wave plate [1]. In this work, we show that a uniaxial crystal plate can be applied as a polarization interferometer for both techniques: introducing a spatial carrier and also providing simultaneous phase steps. The rst implementation requires a CCD sensor or a digital camera, whereas the second one can be implemented by an ad-hoc array of single photodiodes. The latter allows us to work with fewer photodetectors and also to demodulate faster signals.
