Resumen:
Chalcogenide
glasses have successfully been applied as sensitive membranes of ion
selective electrodes (ISEs) for many decades [1]. In particular, they
have shown to possess excellent properties for the development of
multi-sensor systems like electronic tongues [2], [3], [4]. The key
component needed in the fabrication of this multi-sensor systems is a
cross-sensitivity (various degrees of sensitivities to the presence
of different ions) [5]. In previous works, ISEs with membranes of the
system AgGeSe have shown to have good sensitivity to Ag+ and Cu2+ ions
[6], [7]. In the present work, ISEs with either bulk or thin film
membranes of composition AgX(Ge0.25Se0.75)100-X (10 < X < 25)
were prepared. The bulk membranes were prepared by the melt-quenching
technique and the thin films membranes were prepared by pulsed laser
deposition. The sensitivities of the ISEs were measured against several
ions: Pb2+, Cd2+, Cr3+, Mg2+, K+ and Fe3+. The electrodes showed an
important response to the presence of Pb2+ and Fe3+ ions, a low response
to the presence of Cd2+ and Cr3+ ions and a total lack of response to
the presence of Mg2+ and K+. These results lead to the conclusion that
electrodes with membranes of the system AgGeSe are good candidates to
integrate multi-sensor systems.
