Resumen:
ABSTRACT: In the present work it is proposed to study in detail the effusive system presentin the neogene formations (Rio Mañero and Desencuentro) outcropping in the Alto de San Nicolás,Campo de Talampaya, La Rioja.Previous works, contemplate the sedimentary evolution of this small basin, belonging to thefragmented foreland, including calculations of subsidence of this for the Mio-Pliocene. However, innone of these works is detailed reference made to the pyroclastic sequences, although the lavafacies have been dated between 10 and 7 Ma.The presence of these thick pyroclastic sequences implies a new point of study for theevolution of the system, given that the sedimentary load (practically immediate) causes it to evolvein a different way due to changes in transport dynamics.Early Miocene volcanism (La Moradita Formation) implies that this has been a phenomenonassociated with the generation of the foreland and its subsequent fragmentation and that it hasremained active during the Miocene, as it happened in other regions of the country. The lithostatic charge of these powerful neoclassic volcanic piles could have influenced inthe burial the probable mother rocks of hydrocarbons belonging to the Ischichuca and Los RastrosFormations in the Ischigualasto basin and, in this way, have propitiated conditions for a probablegeneration of hydrocarbons, These materials are sometimes carriers of abundant organic matter. The studies to be carried out include the description and interpretation of the differentlithofacies present and, if possible, the architecture of the same, to determine the paleotopographyexisting during the effusive events, the geometry of the different pyroclastic deposits and theirconnection with the continental environments. contemporary clastics. As a consequence of this detailed work, it is intended to perform a formal stratigraphicordering for the study area and determine correlations at the regional level with the contemporaryunits present in Precordillera and Famatina, mainly.
