Resumen:
Based upon our fifteen years of experience
working with the subject of cultural and natural resource management from an
inter-cultural perspective, we review the underlying assumptions that have
guided our efforts. We present these here as "utopias" for the
various groups involved, and discuss these in terms of their scope and
limitations. Our own viewpoints are enriched by the fact that we have both
worked in a variety of roles within Argentina's heritage management
system (as researchers, institutional directors, and resource managers).
Our presentation here is also grounded in
comparisons we can make among all of the individual cases in which we have been
involved, although here we focus in particular on the case of Quilmes, as both
authors have had long-term involvement in various stages of activity that have
taken place at this well-known archaeological site in northern Argentina.
