Resumen:
During the first half of the Second Millennium BC, the extensive network of exchanges that allowed strong interregional relationships -the Nilotic-Levantine world-system -developed from an integrated and cohesive situation to a disrupted one. The emergence of an independent political entity at Tell el-Dab´a (Avaris), in the former settlement with Middle Bronze Levantine features of the late Middle Kingdom, should be framed into the process of collapse of the united Egyptian state. In this paper I shall discuss the legitimation practices the Hyksos dynasty (ca. 1640-1530 BC) performed to create a distinctive identity as rulers during the late Second Intermediate Period.
