Resumen:
Ética social vs ética científica: la dicotomía de la geografía actual en América Latina                                        Darío César Sánchez* Abstract In the last one hundred and fifty years, in human and social sciences and especially in geography, there was a dialectic parallelism between the positivist and humanist paradigms. The formers putted its accent in the objectivity and the quantitative methodology and the humanistic in the subjectivity and hermeneutics, with significant influence of Marxist philosophy. Nowadays, emergences of epistemological anarchism attack heavily the search of scientific truth. In consequence, is shaping up a new dichotomy of geography: we ought to pursue social ethics or we ought to pursue scientific ethic. In Latin America, where geographical science can contribute actively to reach the so desired sustainable development, to take position in the sense of the objectivity and the scientific truth, should be the way to a leading role for the geographers in matter of territorial arrangement.
