Resumen:
The biogeochemical reactions brought by water saturation in hydromorphic soil horizons of the Pampean region has been studied for some time by means of conventional chemical characterizations. The transformations produce denitration, depletion of the Fe and Mn contents, sulfide and methane production. These processes involve redox reactions which are usually characterized by measurements of the redox potential, and the contents of Fe2+, Mn2+ and NO3-. In the present work, we have applied Mössbauer spectroscopy as well as the traditional chemical analyses to assess the contents of different states of Fe in oxides and hydroxides in Entisol soil belonging to the Argentine coastal plain of the Rio de La Plata.
