Resumen:
We consider the non-equilibrium autonomous quantum dynamics of three distinct systems subject to different non-equilibrium protocols: a system of one-dimensional spinless fermionsundergoing a short-range interaction quench (sudden turning on of the interactions), a system of two-dimensional spinless fermions undergoing a long range interaction quench, and theBose-Hubbard model in one dimension starting from an inhomogeneous initial condition. Using results obtained using a wide variety of techniques we show that the three systems exhibit theemergence of metastable states in the dynamics, a phenomenon called prethermalization. Through a systematic analysis we establish a common picture that encompasses the phenomenologyexhibited by the three systems, showing that prethermalization is an universal feature in the non-equilibrium dynamics of isolated quantum systems.
