Resumen:
The continued emergence of Candida infections resistant to currently used drugs requires the constant searching of new antifungal drugs. The aim of this study was to investigate the antibiofilm effect of two prenylated flavanones from Dalea boliviana Britton on biofilms of two Candida albicans strains. Moreover, we studied if oxidative stress and antioxidant activity of sessile cells were affected. The results showed that both compounds F2 and F3 at 50µM inhibited biofilms in both Candida albicans strains. In addition, It was observed an increase of reactive nitrogen intermediates (RNI) and the total antioxidant capacity of the biofilms. These results encourage to continue studying the action mechanisms of these prenylated flavonoids on Candida biofilm and the combination with other antifungal drugs.
