Rural employment opportunities including both individual´s access to an occupation and the particular characteristics of this integration are key dimensions to assess social sustainability in rural areas. "Precarious employment" has become a term frequently used to account for job quality related to agricultural activity as well as for other related sectors. In this communication, using a series of specific indicators, the employment generation capacity and the quality of employment for different rural areas of Argentina is analyzed, considering such dimensions as occupational stability, access to social benefits, labor-hiring methods, education, and income levels and systems, among others.
