Resumen:
The paper presents data on the rapid growth many New Ecclesial Movements had in Brazil and in Argentina during the 50s to 90s, and the decline they are experimenting at present. It discusses why these NEM had good acceptance in these countries, what boosted their growth, the structures they created, and the activities developed. The paper discusses issues that help understand why the NEM went from being conceived as catalyzing ecclesial progressive change, to being conservative Ecclesial structures in these two countries.
