Resumen:
The term of the specific epithet, Baiera taeniata Geinitz, 1876, Ginkgo taeniata (Geinitz) Frenguelli, 1937 and Sphaenobaiera taeniata (Geinitz) Morel et al., 1999 are illegitimate according to the Article 53 of the International Code of Nomenclature (ICN, McNeill et al., 2012) and the Article 58 of the International Code of Botanical Nomenclature (ICBN, 2011) because they are homonyms of Baiera taeniata Braun and Ginkgoites taeniata (Braun) Harris. Furthermore, neither Frenguelli (1937) nor Morel et al. (1999) gave the specific diagnosis nor did they determine the holotype, which, in accordance to Arts. 32 and 41 of the ICBN (2011) is illegitimate and thus not validly published. However, Baiera taeniata Braun and Ginkgoites taeniata (Braun) Harris were validly published by Braun (1843) and emended by Harris (1935) and Dobruskina (1985). Thus, both names are homonyms and have been applied to two unrelated specie fossil. Therefore, the Argentinian specimens require a new name, and we herein propose the name Baiera triassica, and provide a holotype designation.
