Abstract. Paleoflora of the Carrizal Formation (Middle-Upper Triassic), San Juan province, Argentina. Part I: Geology and paleoflorístic content. The study of a paleoflora recovered from the continental Triassic Carrizal Formation (Marayes Group), Marayes-El Carrizal Basin, San Juan province, Argentina, is presented in this article. The samples mostly come from sections placed near the town of Marayes, right along the homonym river, from Quebrada del Barro and Quebrada El Carrizal creeks, and from the neighbouring of Rickard Mine. On a taxonomical viewpoint, the Kingdom Fungi and Plantae have been differentiated, this last one with representatives of different order, genus and species of the Divisions Bryophyte, Sphenophyta, Filicophyta, Pteridospermophyta, Ginkgophyta and Coniferophyta respectively, together with a group of Incertae sedis plants. These materials are preserved as impressions and carbonaceous compressions Petrified woods of Corystospermaceae, Cycadales and Coniferales have been also found. Palabras claves: Megaflora.
