Resumen:
Abstract A new study of the Entrerrioxylon victoriensis Lutz 1981 revealed that this taxon have many anatomical characters likely with Caesalpinioideae especially at Tribe Detarieae. This paper re-described and re-assigned this specimen recovered from Middle Miocene Paraná Formation of the Cantera Municipal of Victoria, Entre Ríos, Argentina. The presence and combination of intercellular axial canals, crystals in ray cells, rays partially storied and fiber wall thickness were the diagnostic characters that allowed to transfer it to the Tribe Detarieae. The most genera likely with Entrerrioxylon victoriensis are Prioria Griseb., Oxystigma Harms, Gossweilerodendron Harms and Kingiodendron Harms. This legume wood found in the south of South America supports the posture of an old relationship with the Africa flora and a marked influence of tropical Central America and tropical South America. Also, many of the characters observed in the Entrerrioxylon victoriensis could be used as an indicator of wet tropical conditions.
