C/1848P1(Petersen)andC/1848U1(Petersen)areonesofalargenumberofcometswith
parabolic orbits.Giventhattherearesufficient observations,67inrightascencionand61indeclination
for theformerand144inrightascensionand144indeclinationforthelatter,itprovestobepossibleto
calculate betterorbits.TheC/1848P1'sorbitishyperbolic,althoughstatisticallyindistinguishablefroma
parabola. Thisobject,therefore,cannotbeconsideredasanNEO.C/1848U1'sorbitisalsohyperbolic,but
with noindicationofapossibleextrasolarorigin.
