A model for field-assisted-thermionic barrier crossing is being proposed to explain the mechanism. The model has been applied to two sets of nanostructured thick-films with grains having two well distinct characteristic radii (R=10nm and R=30nm). In the first case the grain radius is shorter than the depletion region width, a limit at which overlapping of barriers takes place [1], and in the second case it is longer. In Fig. 1 the intergranular barrier is shown as a function of the coordinate inside the grain for an intermediate (20nm) case.
