Resumen:
Among the technologiesfor recovering hydrocarbon polluted sites, bioremediation is particularlyinteresting for wastewater and residue treatment. Firstly in this Chapter weintroduce hydrocarbon bioremediation focusing on the hydrocarbon biodegradationcapabilities of microorganisms of the marine environment. Then, the context ofpetroleum hydrocarbons in the Argentinean Patagonia coast is depicted andrecent advances in bioprospection of hydrocarbon degrading microorganisms frompolluted sediments are reviewed. Finally, we discuss bilge waste bioremediationby Patagonian autochthonous microbial consortium as a treatment alternative.Particularly, focusing on the hydrocarbon biodegradation extent, bioremediationtrials at different experimental scales, and bilge waste microbial communitymembers are reviewed.Disponible on line en :www.springer.com/gb/book/9783319427997
