Resumen:
This work reports on the thermal and mechanical properties of composite materials formulated with a commercial tannin adhesive made from quebracho tannin extract and pine wood flour. Thermal transitions were measured by Differential Scanning Calorimetry (DSC), Thermogravimetric Analysis (TGA) and Dynamic Mechanical Analysis (DMA). Final properties of the composite materials were evaluated as a function of the mass fraction of wood flour, in the range of 70 to 85 %. The mechanical characterization of these materials consisted in the measurement of flexural properties using three point bending tests. From these results, the elastic modulus and the ultimate strength and deformation were determined.
