Resumen:
The development of polymeric nanocomposites obtained from renewable rawmaterials has become an important area of research due to their potentialapplications in different scientific and industrial fields and because they presentenvironmental advantages.Tung oil is extracted from the seeds of the tung tree and it is a highly unsaturatedoil that can be polymerized with styrene in the presence of a cationic initiator [1].Previous works have reported that some of the compositions have shape memoryproperties (SMP) [1]. The load of these systems with nano-magnetite can increasetheir applications. The magnetite can be thermally activated by an alternatingmagnetic field, producing a release of heat, which under specific conditions, canbe used to change the SMP of the nanocomposites [2].The aim of this work is to study the influence of magnetite concentration on apolymeric matrix based on tung oil and styrene. Preliminary results showed thathyperthermia can be possible in the nanocomposites for contents above 1wt.% ofmagnetite.
