Resumen:
The Aloysia gratissima complex is a group of 22 accepted, specific and infraspecific taxa, whose boundaries are controversial.Throughout the years different authors have chosendifferent characters as criteriato delimit taxawithin this complex, which has beenreflected in the variable numberof accepted species. To resolve thetaxonomy of this group a modified Population Aggregation Analysis, based onphylogenetic species concept, was employed. As a result Aloysia gratissima complex is here circumscribed as compromising onlyfour species, A. decipiens, A. gratissimas.s., A. oblanceolata, and A. schulziana. These species aresustained by a different combination of four characters, out of the 16 qualitativeattributes analyzed. A new approach based on cluster analysis is here proposedto delimit varieties. As a consequence two varieties, supported by significantdifferences among quantitative characters, are here recognized: A. gratissima var. gratissima and A.gratissima var. sellowii. Acomplete taxonomical revision of the accepted taxa is presented, 6 new synonymsare proposed, a key, illustrations and geographical distribution maps are included.
