Resumen:
The structural applications of fiber-reinforced polymer composites (GRP) are limited by the difficulty of predicting their service life. Depending on the type of application, the components are subjected to different environments and operating conditions that can activate a series of mechanisms at the molecular level that affect the properties with which they have been designed. For this reason, the study of degradation is critical to define the durability of industrial facilities. The effect of water on polymeric matrix composites can be associated with the plasticization, swelling, cracking, and chemical degradation of hydrolyzable groups of the matrix [1]. Although the short-term deterioration mechanisms have been extensively studied, published results are not enough to explain and predict long-term behavior.
