Resumen:
The use of antimicrobial packaging films offers several advantages compared with the direct addition of preservatives into food products. The incorporation of natural antimicrobial agents into polymeric films allows one to combine the preservative functions of antimicrobials with the protective purpose of the pre-existing packaging concepts. The incorporation of essential oils (EOs) to edible films as natural bactericides might be an interesting option.
