Electrospun mats of chitosan were obtained from solutions prepared in highly concentrated acetic acid solutions. No other solvents were needed, and mixtures of a highly deacetilated chitosan and high molecular weight polyethylenoxide (PEO) were spun. Electrospun mats with high chitosan concentrations (Chitosan/PEO weight ratios of 95/5 and 98/2) were prepared obtaining continuous nanofibers.
