Creep Behavior of Compatibilized PP -Jute Composites

The short term creep-recovery behavior of composites made from jute bidirectional fabric and polypropylene was experimentally determined. Composites were compatibilized using two commercial maleated polypropylenes and lignin. The creep part of the curves was used to calculate the parameters for the Bürgers model, and the recovery part of the curve was modeled using these values. Very good agerement between experimental data and theoretical curves was obtained. Both, creep tests and scanning electronic micrographs, comfirmed that the interfacial adhesion between the jute and the thermoplastic matrix was enhanced using all the compatibilizers.
