Using two types of cationic synthetic monomers, two grafting techniques were tested on isolated lignosulfonates and on NSSC spent liquors. The grafted copolymer characterization includes the determination of their molecular weight distribution and their heteropolymers and homopolymers ratio. The grafted copolymers were applied to a pulp slurry and to an effluent to evaluate their flocculant properties.
